scenting the room at Giles AW12

The fashionistas and journalists have been out in force in the past few days for London Fashion Week. It’s our favourite time for people watching here at the Mayfair shop!

Over in East London, we were really pleased to be part of the Giles Deacon AW12 show on Monday night. The Central Saint Martins graduate turned designer for Jean Charles De Castelbajac and Bottega Veneta launched his own beautiful Giles Deacon line in 2004, and was awarded Best New Designer and British Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2004 and 2006. He's said to be a big Miller Harris fan and chose L’air de Rien to scent the room.

Giles said that "...the venue I chose to present the AW2012 was a staggeringly beautiful 15th Century hall, to show a collection of decadent and decayed timelessness, and the candle l’air de rien brought a fantastic nasal atmosphere to the event"

With rich notes of oak moss, neroli, amber and vanilla, L’Air de Rien was created by Lyn Harris for Jane Birkin, who wanted an unconventional, nostalgic fragrance reminiscent of her grandmother’s library. We think it’s a mysterious and alluring scent from an inimitable female icon, and a brilliant match for Gile’s collection, which was partly inspired by old portraits of actresses at the National Portrait Gallery.

Below are some of our favourite pieces from the show (and do check out the backstage video from the SS12 collection!)…
